WELLDERMA GE GOLD EYE MASK REVIEW - A LITERAL GOLD MINE
The eye mask that’ll make you feel 100 times richer.
AMY DANG on APRIL 25, 2020
Ah gold. The sign of opulence, wealth, and riches. Who wouldn’t want to lather themselves in shiny things to make them feel but a tiny bit more prestigious, and a tad more affluent. Thanks to this new gold skincare trend, we can now experience a tiny taste of what it feels like to be rich, like being in the shoes of Queen Elizabeth. Oops, I’m exaggerating again. Enough about my ramblings. The WellDerma GE Gold Eye Mask joins the plethora of skincare products that use gold as an ingredient. Despite the many products already out on the market, it is actually my first time trying a gold-based skincare product. As usual, I am late to trends.
THE EYE MASK
The WellDerma GE Gold Eye Mask boasts many great skincare benefits, a number of which are familiar to fellow skincare lovers. Both moisturizing and nourishing, the mask also helps to enhance the skin’s resilience, particularly around the eye and smile lines. The acronym GE in the product name stands for Germanium. When combined with gold, it becomes a powerful solution to tighten the wrinkled skin around the eyes, to revitalize it, and to form a healthy barrier for skin regeneration.
The eye mask has quite a subtle fragrance to it. When applying, you can barely smell it. For the purpose of this review, I dug a little deeper ? by that, I mean I put my nose closer to the product and took a strong whiff ? and realized that I recognized the smell. While it’s hard to describe, it is very similar to other skincare products I’ve had in the past. It was a familiar, slightly chemical scent, for lack of a better word, but it was not bad either. I apologize for my lack of descriptive words, but I promise you that the fragrance is not something to be worried about with this eye mask.
Thanks to the small spatula that came with the product, the application process was fairly hassle-free. The texture is a little slimy, but nothing outrageously slippery. Upon application, the masks felt cool to the touch and calming. Most importantly, they didn’t sting my eyes despite being very near the inner corners. As I normally do with face masks, I lied down and relaxed while letting the magic work. Adhesion-wise, they didn’t budge as I moved from my bathroom to my living room and stayed put as they should throughout the entire 30 minutes. However, word of caution, it does slip around a little when applied after your whole skincare routine. So I would recommend waiting for your face to be a bit drier.
Great to apply on other areas of the face like your forehead too!
Since I don’t have very visible eye bags, the effects of this mask aren’t particularly noticeable. The under eye area felt nice and moisturized, and my skin definitely felt tighter and more supple to the touch. But in terms of noticeable differences, it’s quite hard to tell, especially given the fact that I already use an eye cream daily. Perhaps more frequent wear would allow me to better assess any long-term results. But as of now, the short-term effects on my skin are minimal. Keep in mind that if you do have more pronounced eye bags and fine lines, this product could do wonders for you. Don’t let my experience discourage you from trying it out!
As mentioned earlier, the eye mask is formulated with a combination of gold and germanium ferment, which is meant to deeply nourish, brighten and vitalize the skin. The eye mask also contains a root extract that purifies and improves skin tone. Not only does it prevent wrinkles from forming, but it also soothes sensitive skin and protects it from harmful substances. Overall, this combination of ingredients boasts important revitalizing benefits.
Water, Glycerin, Carrageenan, Butylene Glycol, Saccharomyces/Germanium Ferment (1000ppm), Gold (1ppm), Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Glyceryl Caprylate, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Sucrose, Betaine, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Calcium Chloride, Allantoin, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Gellan Gum, Cellulose Gum, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Mica, Tin Oxide, CI 77491, Titanium Dioxide, Hexylene Glycol, Hydroxyacetophenone, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance
Despite the lack of noticeable difference to my skin, I would still continue using the WellDerma GE Gold Eye Mask for preventive purposes. It still boasts great anti-aging benefits and nourishment that my under eye area could definitely use. And what’s great is that you can apply this anywhere on your face, even on your neck! Overall, its versatility and value goes beyond just being an eye mask, making this product a definite keeper.
