THE HAND CREAM THAT HAD POTENTIAL
KAYLA ALLARD on AUGUST 9, 2020
All of us have been washing our hands more than ever before. Every time I have to run errands, I use hand sanitizer immediately afterwards like before going into my car. My poor hands have now become so dry and rough from this constant duo of washing and hand sanitizing that their health has declined. I’ve been using hand creams way more frequently to fix that, yet have also been going through them just as fast. While I’ve enjoyed using the generic Vaseline hand creams, I was excited to try something new thanks to Beautchat. I received Missha’s Ceramide Capsule Hand Cream! Seeing ‘Ceramide’ in the name quickly piqued my interest and gave me high hopes that this would be amazing.

This cream contains ingredients such as Ceramide capsules, avocado oil and cacao butter, all of which help with moisture. The feeling of this hand lotion is amazing! This is one of the better hand creams I’ve tried recently because it keeps my hands soft and moisturized without feeling greasy. That’s a huge plus for me. I’m able to do daily activities with my hands like drive my car, clean my room or even take photos without leaving traces of lotion behind. That’s my biggest criteria for hand creams, and I was happy that this passed that test! It doesn’t have the typical heavy feeling most creams have either. When applying it, the cream’s texture becomes almost water-like!

My very dry hands.
Unfortunately there is the dreaded “but”. While everything about this hand cream was amazing, there was one very present thing that I did not enjoy, the scent. I’m not one who is typically sensitive to smells either. The scent of this hand cream was just extremely strong, and by no means subtle. The actual scent is not bad, it’s actually great and on the citrusy side. However, the strength of it was overwhelming for me. This is not something you can easily wear on your hands before eating because with every bite you take of food, you’ll smell the cream. I scratched my nose, forgetting I applied to hand cream, and it lingered on my nose for a good hour- no exaggeration! The scent is just too powerful and I really wish it wasn’t, because I love how this made my hands feel after application. After a while, I began using the cream only before sleeping because once I’m asleep I won’t notice the smell.

After application.
So while I do think this hand cream is amazing, I’m just thrown off because of that strong and very present scent. I hope that in the future Missha will release an unscented version. Then I would be going around to everyone telling them to buy it ASAP. Until then, I’ll have to hold off on giving a strong recommendation.
